COVID-19 Update

Important changes to residential tenancies...

COVID-19 has changed the way that we live our lives.  In response to the virus, the Commonwealth Government and each state and territory government around Australia have introduced a huge number of changes across all areas of life.

Key changes since our last update relate to residential tenancies. If you are a residential tenant financially affected by COVID-19, your landlord is prohibited from issuing a termination notice for non-payment of rent or charges. Under these circumstances, residential landlords are also prohibited from applying to the Tribunal for an order to terminate.

Our team recognises that these changes can be confusing.  To assist you, we are constantly monitoring the situation and keeping you up-to-date. Please take the time to read the latest information on changes affecting people in NSW.

And remember, if you have been financially affected by COVID-19, are concerned how this may affect your ability to pay rent, and would like advice on your options, you can contact us on (02) 6884 9422 or FREECALL: 1800 655 927 to book an appointment with one of our solicitors.
